Juneau: Mendenhall Glacier Tour, Alaska

A must see in Juneau. Waterfalls, wildlife: salmon, porcupine… beautiful nature. Just take the Glacier Buss for $16 per person at this time; it is a little walk from the cruise terminal in Juneau, and a short drive later you will find yourself in a picturesque natural wonder: the Mendenhall Glacier, lake and waterfalls.  The bathrooms are at the visitor center area. There are two trails: the Photo trail is shorter and takes couple of minutes, the Waterfall trail is longer and takes 45 minutes, but it is worth to try; it encounters many small waterfalls, streams, pine trees and mossy vegetation: if you like nature, this trail is for you; there are porcupines, eagles, and birds around. The lake and the stream close to the bus stop have huge red salmon in it, ducks, and birds playing with water. Dress in layers, because it rains and drizzles. Use a mosquito spray or take garlic tablets; they help with mosquitos, although none of us got bitten; not even once. The visitor center has mass of information and the tent below has hides from beavers, bears, box and wolves, squirrel
